Hi ARVC Tennis People !!!

The 2010 tennis season is in the GO position!!! We start in May, and have a busy schedule planned through the season.

There are programs and activities for all ages … so get ready to join the fun !!!!

Registration Saturday, May 15, 9:00 AM – Noon. Bring in your completed registration forms, (available online) or fill one out at the club that day, and sign up for the 2010 activities. The tennis staff will be on hand to meet and greet you.

Welcome Back Tennis Blast Sat. & Sun. Memorial Day Weekend. Start the season off with a “blast” of tennis … all levels of play … lots of tennis … start the season off with your friends and “go for the gold” and bragging rights. Singles, doubles, mixed doubles … Join the Fun !!!

Mens Summer Clinic $40 includes ALL sessions Monday 6:30PM – 8:00 Instructional clinics for beginner and intermediate players. Stroke development, conditioning, and individual comprehensive assessment of player’s game. This gets “bigger & better” each year and has become a “boys night out” with matches after the clinics.

Ladies Summer Clinic: $40 includes ALL sessions Thursday Instructional clinics for beginner and intermediate 6:00PM-7:30 players. Stroke development, conditioning, and 7:30PM-9:00 individual comprehensive assessment of player’s game. This program was “booked” last season and may be limited, so don’t be left out this year. Each week was a “feast” of tennis, fun, food, and libations.Tennis Directors will determine level of play.

Ladies Round Robin Matches Wednesdays Show up and play !!! Fun tennis !!! 9:00 AM – 10:30AM No Charge

Tiny Tots:3 to 6 Years Old Monday Wednesday 1/2 hour sessions 8:45 AM – 9:15 AM An introduction to tennis, focusing on making it Tuesday Thursday a fun game and developing motor skills 10:15 – 10:45 $40 includes ALL sessions

Junior Clinics: 7 to 18 Years Old Monday & Wednesday Morning 9:15 – 10:15 7 years old Instructional Clinics focusing on introduction 10:15 – 11:15 8 ” ” to the sport, court etiquette and behavior, 11:15 – 12:15 9-10 ” ” scoring, and sound technique. 12:15 – 1:15 11 – 18 ” $80 includes ALL sessions

Junior Competitive Clinics: 8 – 18 Years Old – Directors’ Discretion Tuesday & Thursday 9:15 – 10:15 12 & Under Physical conditioning, strategy, 10:45 – 11:45 14 & Under court management, stroke production, 11:45- 12:45 18 & Under footwork, and individual comprehensive $80 includes ALL sessions assessment of player’s game.

Junior Ladder: 7 – 18 Years Old $25 Monday – Thursday It’s a “king of the hill” format, based on players ability. ALL levels are ALL welcome to join. Excellent for beginners thru high school players, matches as they will be competing with their peers.

CARDIOTENNIS: Days & Times to Be Announced This is an exciting cardio workout program involving tennis and lively music. We hope to have both beginner and advance classes, depending on interest shown and level of tennis ability. The classes given at ForeCourt over the Fall / Winter months were “sold out” with waiting lists … both ladies and men were well represented. This is a 1 hour “class” and is limited to a maximum of 10 participants per session, minimum of 4 per class. There will be a sign-up sheet and email sign-up available for each session. Cost is determined by number of participants ( $5 – $10 )

Youth Tennis Camps July 19 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM Competition Level $100 20 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM Beginner Level $50 22 (NO REGULAR YOUTH CLASSES THIS WEEK) 23 Emphasis on stroke production, court management, singles and doubles strategy, stamina, and overall tennis development and improvement. An excellent opportunity for both levels of play. The Tennis Directors determine the level of play for all participants. A player put into the wrong camp is not fair to them or the other players. NOTE THE LADIES MEMBER GUEST IS WEDNESDAY JULY 21. THERE ARE NO JUNIOR CAMPS OR CLINICS SCHEDLUED

USTA Jr. Team Tennis (Selected by Directors) Friday 1:00 – 3:00 Competitive schedule with other USTA Jr. Tennis Teams in the area.Both home and away matches are scheduled, culminating in state, regional, and national tournaments. The USTA is finalizing on the cost of entering team. Both a 14 & Under, and an 18 & Under team are planned. This is very competitive and participants will be selected by the tennis staff. ARVC 14U team won the State Championship in 2009.

Adult Tennis Socials:6:30PM til ??? No Charge Doubles & mixed doubles in a fun format, for all levels. Sign up sheets and dates will be posted. Limited to 16 teams.

Men’s & Ladies’ Singles League No Charge These are “competitive fun” leagues which will be done on flexible schedule. Matches will be scheduled and be played during the week at the players’ convienence. Stats will be kept and posted. Leagues are divided into different divisions depending on your level of play. Last year had good participation, so sign up and join in !!!

High Performance Instruction $50 / hr Taught by Brien Morrissette, head pro at ForeCourt. For competitive players. Limited to 4 players per court.

Lessons / Special Clinics $40 / hr Private, Semi-Private (2-4 players), and special clinics,are available. Clinics and lessons will be available after May 16 registration. Form your own groups,start early and get ready for the summer season !!!

Bookings should be made with Joanne or Ed for any instructor.
Joanne Macksoud: USTA member for over 35 years. Member USTARI Board of Directors Played on National Runner Up 3.5 Ladies Team, and 4.0 Sectional Champion. High school tennis coach for 7 years. USPTR certified instructor. Pawtucket Boys & Girls Club Director of Tennis for 10 years. President & Co-Founder of the Blackstone Valley Tennis Association, 2007 National Junior Team Tennis Chapter of the Year, and .Recipient of the 2007 National Junior Team Tennis Organizer of the Year. Joanne has been the Director of Tennis for 5 middle schools for the Providence After School Alliance. 
Ed Macksoud: USTA member for over 25 years. USPTR Instructor. Teaching Pro at Forecourt Tennis & Fitness Club. Co-Recipient ( with Joanne ) 2005 RI Tennis Volunteers of the Year. Vice President & Co-Founder of BVTA, 2006  New EnglandCommunity Tennis Association of the Year.
Andrea Lee: played #1 singles at Mt. St Charles Academy, and was undefeated in her senior year when "the Mount" won the Class A State Championship. Reached state quarterfinals in both her sophmore and junior years, and was the finalist in her senior year.  She was selected on the All State team for three years. Andrea is a graduate of Providence College and also instructs tennis at ForeCourt and Kirkbrae CC.
Sam Fecteau: Sam is currently on the staff at ForeCourt, working primarily with  the development of junior players. His students range in ability from beginner to competitive levels of play. Prior to that he taught tennis for the Providence After School Alliance. Sam played his HS tennis at South Kingston HS. He was part of a team that won the state Division 1 championship 4 years in a row, captaining it in his senior year.when he made first team All-State.
Kevin Hartmann: Kevin is somewhat new to the area and joins us as an assistant pro. He started playing tennis at Fenwick HS in Oak Park Illinois, and was captain in his senior year. He instructed at the Fenwick Tennis Camp. Kevin is an avid cardio tennis advocate. He recently graduated from Providence College.
High Performance Instructor Brien Morrissette: Brien is known to most players in the area. He is head pro at ForeCourt, where he has taught since 2005. Prior to that he taught at RI Country Club, Tennis RI ( both East and West Bay ), and Fisher Island CC in New York. His teaching skills challenge players in their development to be competitive at higher levels of play.
